Why We Verify Breeders

We use identity verification to build trust, promote transparency, and ensure the platform is safer for both buyers and breeders. For identity checks, we partner with Veriff, a trust identity verification provider.

The Benefits

For Breeders

  • Build trust with buyers.

  • Show you are a real and responsible breeder.

What Buyers Will See

Buyers see verification status, including phone, email, and ID badges, on breeder profiles and listings.

Verification shows certain checks have been completed, but it does not fully confirm identity, qualifications, or all aspects of breeder reliability. Buyers should still do their own research and ask questions. For guidance on what questions to ask breeders, see our advice on buying a puppy blog post.

Privacy Reassurance

Your ID is securely verified through Veriff and only used for verification. We do not display your ID publicly anywhere on our website. ID data is stored securely for 90 days in the service and then for 3 years in the archive. Only authorised staff and our verification provider can access this information, and it is never shared or used for any other purpose. If you close your account, you can request the deletion of your verification data at any time. To do this, simply contact our support team, and we will permanently remove your information from our systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

For Breeders

Why do I need to verify my ID?

To help prove your profile is genuine and give buyers more confidence in contacting you.

Who handles my ID verification?

We use Veriff to securely verify IDs.

How long does verification take?

This depends on the review process, but the aim is to keep it as quick and straightforward as possible. Most verifications are completed within seconds, though it may take a bit longer if a manual review is needed. If your verification takes longer than expected, you can contact our support team for an update or assistance. We are here to help and ensure your verification process goes smoothly.

Will buyers see my ID?

No - only your verification status is shown publicly.

What happens if I fail verification?

You should be given guidance on what to correct or resubmit. Common reasons include blurry or unreadable ID photos, ID details that do not match your account information, selfie verification failed, or expired or unsupported documents.

If your ID verification fails, try again, use a different document or contact Veriff’s support team or our support team.

For Buyers

What does verified breeder mean?

It means the breeder has completed all of the checks shown on their profile. However, not all aspects of their identity or qualifications may be verified. Please note that our verification does not include breeder qualifications, licenses, or animal welfare standards. Buyers should review this information separately and ask breeders for supporting documentation if needed. We are committed to continually improving our verification process and are exploring options to expand our checks in the future, including verifying qualifications and animal welfare standards. We will keep our community updated as new verification features become available.

Does verified mean fully approved?

It means the breeder has been checked in specific ways, but this is not a full approval or guarantee. Buyers should still review profiles carefully and ask questions.

What can I trust from verification?

It’s a strong trust signal that the breeder is real and responsible, and that key contact details have been checked, but it does not serve as a complete guarantee.
